PRICES AT CARTERTON
Wright, Stephenson, and Co. offered a small yarding at the Carterton stock sale yesterday. The sheep were sold at up to .last week's values. A small herd of cows was offered on behalf of; Mr. 1. H. Potter, Kaituriu. Top. ,>rice was £10 ss, and tho average £7 15s. Prices ranged as follows: — Sheep: B.f. lambs," to 17s ,9d; six,to five-year ewes, r.w.s.d. ram, to 23s lOd. Cattle: Cows, due August, £6 10s to £10 ss; cows, first calvers, £6 2s 6d to £7;. Jersey steers, £6 to £7 12s; fat and forward cows, £3 10s to £4;. empty cows, store, £2 15s to £3 ss; cull cows, 30s ,to £2.
Pigs: Weaners, small, 10s 6d to 123 6d, good 14s 6d to 15s 6d; slips, medium 17s 6d to 18s, good 19s 6d to 21s; .porkers, 36s to £2 ss; baconers, to £3. DAIRY DISPERSAL SALE. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report that'on behalf of the Eriata Nohera Estate, Wanstead, .Waipukurau, they- held a complete* dispersal sale at ■' Feilding saleyards.on Wednesday. The yarding consisted of 120 dairy cows and 40 yearling and two-year heifers. ">■ Although the cow were in light condition they sold readily to a representative bench of buyers from, the Manawatu ■ district, and a satisfactory sala resulted at fully .current values. Prices ranged as follows: — Cows, due July-August £8 to £11, due September£6 to £9, late calvers £5 to £7; springing heifers, £4 to £4 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, £2 23 6d to £3; Jersey bulls, aged, 4-Jgs to Bgs; cows .in .milk, £4,t0. £6. PIGS 'AND POULTRY; The Dominion Auctioneering Co, Palmerston North, report that poultry is still in demand at Palmerston North, and a large entry was cleared ■.this week at prices in favour '.-.of sellers. Pigs were in great demand and a larga entry was cleared at satisfactory prices. There was a particularly keen demand for best quality pigs. Quotations are as follows: — . Poultry: Heavy cockerels, 7s to 9s a pair,; light 6s to .7s 6d; fat roosters. 6s to' 7s 6d a pair, light 4s 6d to 7s 6d; fat 8.0. hens,-7s to 8s a pair; W-L. hens, 6s to 6s 6d; light hens, 4s to-.5» lOd.
