TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD
MANY NEW MEMBERS
The Mayoress's room is the new home of the Townswomen's Guild, Wellington Central Branch. A very successful meeting was held there on Tuesday, many new members being enrolled. Mrs. J. Pow, who presided, feelingly expressed the sympathy of • the branch with the relatives of Mrs. Mitchell, a fellow member, whose death occurred recently, and those present stood in silence for two mintues before resuming. .....
Mrs. Kingsman presented the dramatic circle's report, and that of the arts and crafts circle was submitted by Mrs. Heron. Gratification at the progress of each circle was expressed, and it was stated, that the enthusiasm of.the members for the musical circle under the leadership of Mrs. Young was growing steadily since a piano had become available, A programme committee was formed, comprising Mrs. Young, Mrs. Coad, Mrs. Kingsman, Mrs. Broadstock, and Mrs. Heron, whose work will be the provision of entertainment at the afternoon meetings. Mrs. Coad was .appointed convener of the new card circle, which it is anticipated will enjoy considerable popularity.
A vote of thanks was accorded the Mayoress, Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, for making her ■ rooms available for the use of the branch.
The hostesses were Mrs. L. Watson, Mrs-. Preston, and Mrs. Murray. Others present were Mesdames L. Angus (vice-president), McCracken' (secretary), Wray, Webb, Scanmel. Wilson, Downes, Kerr, Smith, Thompson, Williams, Parkhouse, C. Short, Wallace. L. Brown, C. Wilson,- E. Davies, and the Misses S. Eagar and Craig.
