HERE AND THERE
Plimmerton Women. The July meeting of the Plimmerton Women's Institute was presided over, by Mrs. Burd, there being a good at-1 tendance. The business of the forthcoming birthday celebrations was discussed, and interest and amusement caused by the two competitions, "Myself When Young" and "The Best Flower in My Garden." Mrs. Lankshear, who named the greatest number of photographs correctly was first, and Miss Amoore second. Mrs. Hill's hydrangea was judged to be the best flower and Miss Amoore was second with a beautiful iris. Community singing was enjoyed. The hostesses i were Mrs. Blake and Miss Vella. I Presentation to Golfer. j Members of the Judgeford Golf Club met recently at an enjoyable danceparty held at the club house in honour of Miss Doreen Nelson, whose marriage to Mr. Angus Wattie, of Napier, will take place shortly. The clubhouse was artistically decorated with birch and native foliage. The presentation of a chiming mantel-clock was made by the club captain, Mr. D. Barclay, who expressed the good wishes of fellow club members. Mr. Hart replied on behalf .of Miss Nelson. Coronation Romance. The marriage of Miss Lascelles Corrigan, of Tauranga, and the Rev. i Valdimir Vasil Verbi, 0.8. E., of Bulgaria and Mombasa, was celebrated on June 2 at Farnham Parish Church, England, by the Rev. E. C. Hetherington, formerly of Tauranga. The bride, who is the only daughter of Mr. and I Mrs. Don Corrigan, Tauranga, was one of the many New Zealanders to visit England for the Coronation and there met her future husband, marriage taking place not1 long after the an-1 nouncement of their engagement, j Shortly after their marriage the bride I and bridegroom visited Bulgaria, Mr. Verbi's native country, but they will; probably reside in Mombasa. East I Africa, where he has been stationed | as a missionary since 1929. From 1914 ! until 1929 Mr. Verbi was a member of! the Church Missionary Society, and | served as chaplain to the forces from 1915 to 1920, being made 0.8. E. in 1919, leaving for Mombasa ten years! later.
