ROUND TABLE CLUB
WORK OF PAST YEAR
The Y.W.C.A. Business and Professional Women's Round Table Club held its fifth annual meeting this week. The report, presented by the president, Miss Elsie Harper, showed the club to be very active, with a long list of social functions to its credit. These included nine luncheons; the annual banquet, when (he new club banner was displayed for the first time: a "five o'clock" tea party given to bid farewell to the club's first secretary, Miss BethelL prior to her departure for South Africa; a club evening, when five members gave addresses on notable women in history;, and a special meeting, held with the object of increasing the membership. Study courses were undertaken during the year and proved most enjoyable as well as instructive. The membership of the club stands at 55, many being consistent in'their attendance.-
It had been suggested, stated Miss Harper, that a more serious work might be undertaken by the club. A sub-committee had been set up to consult with Dr. Sylvia Chapman with the idea of going into the question: of arranging a series of lectures in connection with social evils. This would require careful thought, ' and they trusted all members would give their support to any action taken.
Appreciation was expressed of the help the club had received in many directions, especially from officers of the Y.W.C.A., the cafeteria committee, and Old Collegians' League, and the Press. Miss Goudie was specially thanked for filling the breach created by the resignation of Miss McDowell and carrying out the duties of secretary so willingly and efficiently.
Officers elected for the ensuing year were as follows: —President, Miss Harper; vice-presidents, Miss Fitzgerald, Miss Toulson, Mrs. Mclnnis. Mrs. De Muth; secretary, Miss Cooper; assistant secretary, Miss McConchie; treasurer. Miss Madson; committee, Miss Low, Mrs. Burns. Miss Morris, Miss Gifford. Miss Hare, and Miss Checkley.
Votes of thanks were passed by Miss Fitzgerald to all who had helped during the past to make the club a success. Light supper and pleasant talk followed.
