BROOKLYN R.S.A. AUXILIARY

The fourth annual meeting of the Brooklyn Auxiliary of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association was held last evening.

The annual report, which has been published, and the balance-sheet, were adopted.

The retiring president (Dr. B. E. Wright) said that owing to his leaving the district he wished to say farewell to members. The auxiliary had been working lor four years and it had developed from, a comparatively small beginning to a well-organised and smooth-running, concern,' he said. That was owing to the continual interest pf the members.: A. successful club had been launched and a high degree of efficiency attained by the committee. Tile Brooklyn Auxiliary'held pride of place among all' auxiliaries, said Dr. Wright, and its members should be pleased with such an honour. He thanked the committee members with whom he had been associated during his term of office, paying a special tribute to Messrs. E. C. Hale and R. H. Mctcalfe. .-.-■• ■

Mr. Hale, representing the Wellington R.S.A., said that headquarters appreciated the work that had been done by the auxiliary in furthering the objects of the association. He said that the only auxiliary that could equal the Brooklyn Auxiliary was the Hutt Valley. The auxiliary's name was held in respect the W.R.S.A. and all the cases for sustenance brought from Brooklyn were well treated because it knew that Brooklyn only sent genuine cases. He urged members to increase their membership and said that- as there were 423 returned men in Brook lyn the membership could be ■ raised much higher' than the present roll of 77. He paid a tribute to the work that Mr. W. Glasspn had done as depot officer during the depression years. .
