The annual general meeting of the Hutt Valley Tramping Club was held on 'Wednesday night. ■■'.■;'■ ■ '■■ : The annual report showed a membership of 159. Private and club parties during the year had visited not only the' tramping districts within immediate reach of Wellington, but also many of the remoter parts of New Zealand. They had assisted in the compilation of topographical knowledge of several of the little-known-parts of the Southern Alps. A very active interest in skiing was being taken by an increasing'number of members. Social functions had been held during the year both in the Hutt Valley and in Wellington. The club approved the plan to conserve the Tararua Ranges and contiguous areas as a permanent national park. The State Forest Service and private land owners were thanked for privileges of access. Considerable extra equipment, including skis, ■ had been purchased. Club finances. were in a sound state. . i ■.■.-.-.
