Due to the continued buoyancy of the wheat market, there are prospects of the Australian wheat cheque being the highest this year for eight years. Those closely. associated with the industry anticipate that the wheat farmers of New South Wales alone will receive a sum exceeding £15,000,00 ii for their crops. Last year, when wheat sold to 4s 6d a bushel, the New South Wales growers received about £12,000,000. This season the value of wheat is Is to Is 2d a bushel above that of last season. Because of {lie unfavourable weather overseas, Australian wheat prices are expected to remain at a high level. Mr. G. W. Walker of the Lindley Walker Wheat Co., anticipates that {he harvest of New South Wales this year will b» between 55 : 000,000 and 60,000,008 bushels. i
