BOWLING

CENTRAL CLUB

The annual meeting of the Central Bowling Club (Petone) was held this week. The annual report stated that the membership of the club at present consisted of sixty-four active, five life, and seven honorary members. 'The conditions of the club's lawns and greens proved satisfactory during the playing season, although generally on the slow side because of the weather. The good work of the greenkeeper (Mr. D. Shepperd) was appreciated by the committee. The club gained second place in the Hutt Valley banner competition. In the McArthur and Henry Shield contest the club gained its fifth win. The club was in a good financial position, and ended the financial year with a substantial credit balance and no liabilities. Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr. F. Hall; vice-president, Mr. F. Black; hon. secretary, Mr. E. A. Urwin; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. Campbell; management committee, Messrs. G Hatch, W. Watkinson, H. L. Sturgess, V. Teasdill, D. Woodward, H. E. Fleet; centre delegate. Mr. ■W. C. Ridley; sole selector, Mr. A. Ronan; match committee, Messrs. A. Ronan, J. Webley, E. A. Urwin; Hutt bowling committee, Messrs. Ronan, Ridley, Urwin; green superintendent, Mr. F. Teasdill; hon. auditors, Messrs. J. Greenwood andJ. Wilson; hon. gardener, A. Clark; midweek- selector, Mr. J. Webley; hon. custodian, Mr. W. J. Urwin.
