MR. ROLLLO SHARP RETIRES

A well-known figure in the commercial life of New Zealand, Mr. J. Rollo Sharp, chief auditor for Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., will retire on July 1 next, after forty-nine years' experience in the stock and station agency business.

For eighteen years Mr. Sharp was in the service of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., having been branch manager at Rakaia, Gore, and Masterton. He later joined the firm of Messrs. Dalgety and Co:, Ltd., in whose employ he has been for the past thirty-two years. He served for a period as accountant at the Arm's Wellington branch,, and was later appointed manager at Blenheim, a position which he held for some thirteen years. He was then promoted to the chief auditorship of the South Island, which position he is now relinquishing after eighteen years.

During his stay at Rakaia Mr. Sharp served as chairman of the local school committee, and at Gore he was the first chairman of the - local Stock Agents' and Grain Merchants' Association, and was also W.M. of the Lodge Harvey.

At Blenheim, Mr. Sharp was the first president of the Scottish Society, of. which N he was elected a life member. He was first president of the Blenheim Operatic Society* being the producer, of their first production, "The Gondoliers," and he still retains his connection with that society as a life member. Mr. Sharp was also chairman of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce for a term, and served for a long period on the committee of Ihe Marlborough A. and P. Association. Mr. Sharp intends to live in Christchurch.

Members of the New Zealanders' Association and their friends are invited to be present at the studio of Miss Marjorie Newport, McKenzio's Building, Willis Street, oa Monday, when a dance and social evening will be held. An excellent programme ha| been arranged, and the .evening promises to be a most enjoyable one.
