HOLLYWOOD ORGY

CHARGES OF ASSAULT

DISMISSED

(Received June 19, 9.45 a.m.) LOS ANGELES, June 18. After a two days' investigation in which some of the witnesses alleged that the movie stars' party on June 3 was the wildest, rottenest, and most drunken riot in the history of Hollywood, and others denied that improprieties occurred, the grand jury dismissed assault charges brought by one complainant and the case was closed. The attorney for the complainant re-, ferred to the affair as a sorry mess, and said it would enlist women's clubs throughout the nation in a campaign "to save others of her sisters who are seeking fame in the pictures."

A previous message stated that the authorities were investigating a wild drinking orgy of cinema people. One hundred and twenty-five extra girls and cowboy costumers, ostensibly reporting for work at a ranch, found that they were compelled to entertain visiting salesmen. Wallace Beery was present, and departed protesting. One girl was attacked and sent to hospital.
