FINE WEATHER

NIGHT WILL BE COLD

Forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate variable winds, but southerly or south-easterly prevailing and freshening: somewhat at times. Weather fine with cold night temperatures. The general forecast' issued af noon today for the Dominion as a whole is for. south-westerly to southerly winds prevailing, mainly light to moderate, but freshening at times on the East Coast,' south of East Cape. The weather will be fine almost generally, but an occasional light shower is still probable in East Coast "districts. The night temperatures will be cold with some sharp frosts. Southerly winds have predominated and during yesterday and last night were strong and squally about Cook Strait and on the East Coast, where they were accompanied by occasional 'passing showers. Rain also fell at a few scattered places in the far north 'and south, but elsewhere the weather was mostly fair to fine, and by this morning it had become generally so. Temperatures have been very cold, many sharp frosts being experienced during the night. An anticyclone of considerable intensity has been advancing slowly towards the Dominion, while pressure has been rather low to the east, but is now rising there also. At Auckland the weather for the most part has been fine. A fresh south-westerly wind blew yesterday, but it was calm there this morning. The weather was very cold in Wellington, but except for a trace of rain during the afternoon it was fair. A strong and squally southerly wind prevailed, but decreased during the night. The sunshine amounted to 5.2 hours. Christchurch had a cold and changeable day, some showers falling in the early part of the morning. A strong south-westerly wind prevailed. The wind decreased in the night and a frost of lldeg was registered. This morning was fine. In Dunedin the weather was cold and changeable, with occasional^ showers accompanying a strong southwesterly wind. At 9 a.m.. today the weather there was fine and clear, with a west-south-west breeze. There were two points of rain.
