LATE MR. C. T. ROBB
CORONER'S VERDICT

CHRISTCHURCH, June 14.
An inquest into the death of Mr. C. T. Robb, chief officer of the inter-island steamer Maori, who died suddenly on Sunday, was held at Lyttelton this afternoon. A verdict of death from heart failure was returned by the Coroner, Mr. F. F. Reid.
Mr. Robb was born at Dunedin on June 5, 1902, and served his time as a seaman in vessels of the Union Company. He joined the service of the company as a junior officer on May 9, 1924, his first appointment being as fourth officer of the Marama, and he later transferred to the Manuka in that capacity. Prompted third officer of the Wanaka in August, 1924, , he served in several ships in that rank before being' promoted to second officer of the Kaimai on January 5, 1927. He served in that rank in many ships of the company, including the Maori, Manuka, and Monowai, and on July 23, 1936, he was promoted to chief officer, his first ship being the Kaimai. Later Mr. Eobb was transferred to the Waipahi and Tamahine, and about three weeks ago he was appointed to the Maori, which vessel was placed in commission last Saturday. The late Mr. Robb, who held a commission as lieutenant in the New Zealand division of the Royal Naval Reserve, is survived by his widow. The funeral takes place at Christchurch.
