AUCKLAND, June 2.

iThe death occurred this morning of Mr. Louis Thorley Symes, a wellknown former bank manager and stockbroker of Auckland. -He was 77 years of age. .

Mr. Symes w9s born ,at ■ Nelson in 1860 and joined the Bank of Australasia at Waverley in 1877. He was appointed manager at Gore in 1883, and in 1892 opened a branch at Gisborne. He was manager of the " Auckland branch from 1912 to 1920, when he retired from the of the bank. Mr. Symes was.for a number of years a member of the Auckland Stock Exchange. He was a ■ vice-president of the Northern Club, for several years, md was connected with the Melanesian Mission. He leaves a wife, two sons, and a daughter. ' ,' .: '• '
