As the Washington . and London Naval Treaties of 1930 are no longer in force, and as Japan is not a party to the London Naval Treaty of 1936, no exchange of naval information now takes place between Japan .and this country, the; First Lord of the Admiralty told the House of Commons at question time, and his Majesty's Government has not therefore been informed of the Japahese intentions with regard to battleship construction.

Mr. Duff: Cooper added that since Japan's refusal at the end of March to accept a 14in gun limitation, no further representations on the subject had been made to the Japanese Government. . * •
