BISHOP UNAWARE

(Received June 3, 10.10 a.m.)

LONDON, June 2.

The Bishop of Durham, Dr. Hensley Henson, says.that he was unaware that the Rev. Mr. Jardine was to officiate at the Duke of Windsor's wedding. !'I cannot control Mr. Jardine's actions on the Continent," he said. "Presumably he secured the permission of a responsible Anglican bishop, but if the marriage were occurring in my diocese I should consider it my duty .to inhibit a clergyman from , officiating." '* London registry offices will be unusually busy ■ tojnorrow,. as many couples wish to marry on the same day and at the same hour as the Duke of Windsor. 7 • ' .
