PALMERSTON N., This Day.

In 1887, 111 sections of bush-covered land were opened up a{ Makomako, the district nestling at the foot of the Tararuas at the back of Pahiatua. Yesterday the events of 50 years ago were recalled at a jubilee reunion of pioneer settlers, and their descendants, the function taking the form of a banquet followed by a dance. /
