CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Twelve days after he was married Alick Edward Smith, of Hornby, shot himself. His body was found in his car near Waikari with a photograph of his wife in his left hand. "I am going silly with worry. This is better than being locked up all my life. I hope you will, not miss me too much." These statements were contained in a note left by Smith for his wife. . - ■ A verdict of death by a gunshot wound self-inflicted while temporarily insane was returned by the Coroner, Mr. H. A. Young. '

Smith, who was 23 years of age, was employed as a teamster .it the Templeton Farm School. . , ■'It is quite an affectior.ate note about you; he does not attribute it to you at all,-"-, said the Coroner to the wife. "Apparently he was worrying needlessly about money."
