In readiness for the Royal review on Thursday practically all the units of the Home Fleet, as well as foreign warships, have now taken up their positions at Spithead, and Portsmouth is thronged with naval men of fourteen nationalities. Some of the principal British and foreign warships were open to inspection yesterday; and a considerable proportion of the exceptionally large crowds Of visitors to Portsmouth ■>nd Southsea took advantage of the Opportunity of visiting the vessels. The warships, both British and foreign, were again open to visitors today. Five passenger liners will be used to accommodate official guests of the Lords Commissioner of the Admiralty for the review. These will follow the Royal yacht in her progress through the moored men-of-war, and will anchor afterwards near her at the head of the lines. This position will enable, their occupants to have an excellent view of the movements of the Fleet which will take place;on Thursday night RECORD HOLIDAY CROWD. London is still crowded with sightseers who have come to town to see the city in its Coronation setting and decorations. • Yesterday the West End accommodated the greatest bank holiday crowd it has ever known. Hundreds of thousands of people thronged the capital.' During the day no fewer than 90,353 people passed in an un-j broken stream through Westminster* Abbey, where in two days the admission fees, which are. being devoted to/ charity, have totalled nearly £3000; Long queues had formed two hours before the Abbey opened, and when Jjt closed at night hundreds were turnett away, being unable to gain admissions. -The fact that the floodlighting wns turned on for- the last time last nigljtt caused the crowds to be larger them those during the day.
