BORSTAL ESCAPEES
YOUTHS BEFORE COURT
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, May 13. Two escapees from a Borstal institution, Thomas Anzac Reid MacGillivray, aged 20, and Te Mata Waaka, aged 19, who were recaptured on Tuesday night at Papatowai, in the Catlins district, appeared before Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today, to face charges of escaping while being subject to an order of detention, conversion of a motor-car, and conversion of two bicycles. The accused pleaded guilty'to the .three charges. In passing sentence of 12 - -months' detention on the charges of- escaping and converting the motor-car, the terms to be served concurrently, the Magistrate commented on the foolishness of attempting to escape. The other charge was dismissed. ■
