JAPAN AND CHILE

AGREEMENT SIGNED

(Received May 12, 1.30 p.m.) TOKIO, May 11. ' The Chilean Economic Mission and Japanese. industrialists have signed a 16-point trade-boosting agreement which includes provisions for improving the shipping service between Chile and Japan. It is especially provided that the vessels should be equipped with cold storage for meats and fruits, and also that Japanese vessels may participate in the Chilean coastal traffic. There was lively discussion at the afinual meeting of the Marton Municipal Band last week as to whether to disband or to carry on, reports "The Post's" Wanganui correspondent. It was ultimately resolved to carry on, and try to build up the band by encouraging- boys from the schools to study some instrument with a view to joining the band when proficient.
