34 WARSHIPS
CORONATION DISPLAY

. ; , RUGBY, May 7. Early this morning'the ships "of the Home Fleet, under' the command of Admiral Sir Roger Backhouse, which are to)be stationed in the Thames,for the Coronation, arrived,- and before noon they had taken up their positions between Southend and the London Docks." The warships number 34, and will provide Londoners with the most impressive display of naval strength seen for, years.
The vessels include the < 33,500-ton battleship Nelson, the flagship of the Commander-in-Chief, , her sister-ship Rodney (33,900 tons), five 29,150-ton battleships of the Royal Sovereign class, • the aircraft • carrier Furious (22.450 tons), the cruisers : Southampton and Newcastle (9000 tons), which have just been completed, and the cruiser Cairo, also twelve modern destroyers, five submarines, one minelayer, one hetlayer, and one depot ship., All the vessels will be open to the public daily until May 13, when they will proceed to Portsmouth in readiness for the Spithead naval review."
