PROPER SIGNALS

APPEAL TO MOTORISTS

The Automobile Association" (Wellington) draws attention to the desirability on the part of those who have mechanical signalling devices fitted to their cars of taking care to ensure first that the device is in first-class order, and secondly, that the signalling apparatus is used correctly and when not required is in the neutral position.

A case was observed a few days ago where the signal was out for <a left-hand turn, which would have justified any car at the rear moving towards the right of the car in' front, when th vehicle in front suddenly turned to the right. Such a movement under the circumstances when the indicator was pointing in the opposite direction was extremely dangerous. Therefore the association asks that motorists who have their cars ( fitted with this type of device exercise ■very great care to see that the apparatus is properly maintained and that when they use it they give the correct signals at all times. . No signal at all would be better in certain' circum. stances than the wrong signal.
