Patrick Delaney was fined 10s and costs for riding a motor-cycle at night without lights. In the case in which John Ewart was charged with driving at an excessive speed, Constable C. F. Stewart said that the defendant was returning from the Tauherenikau races and got out of the line of traffic. His speed was 40 miles per hour. A fine of £3 was imposed. John Joseph Jepson was charged with negligent driving in the Taita Gorge. Constable F. J. Williams said that on February 18 Jepson took a corner too wide at the southern end of the Taita Gorge and collided with a motor-car driven by Alfred Wyeth which was travelling northward. The defendant's car finished up down a bank. A fine of £2 was imposed. In the case in which the Bloomfield Farm Company was charged with failing to clear its land of ragwort,, Mr. A. J. Mazengarb entered a plea of guilty. He said that a contractor was engaged to clear the land, but he suffered from a weak heart and left off work without notifying the" company, which was under the impression that the work had been done. *: ■
The defendant company was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
