SECOND DIVISION
JOHNSONVILLE TOO STRONG
Although' Johnsonville's performance in the first spell was not in the team's best form, the side was much too strong back and forward in the second spell for Pirates and won by 29 points to nil. Pirates did extremely well to hold -the score • in, the first spell-, to five, though . better tactics, such as .kicking and following fast with the wind, might possibly have been better. Johnsonville's backs ran. laterally a good deal in the first spell, but the attack was sharpened in the second and the same, sound, skirmishing forwards, the foundation of success in previous : years,' played' more cohesively for Johnsonville in the spell. Pirates obviously need fitter forwards and better hooking, though the service to the backs from the base of the scrum could have been improved considerably. Tries for Johnsonyille were scored by Chancy, Kelly, -Merv Kenny,-J."Burns. (2), and Bowler,-Merv Kenny kicking a penalty and converting four.;tries. .... : , ~
