The anticyclone which was responsible for fine weather yesterday ;oyer the Dominion has passed' away eastward, and since last night pressure has fallen owing to the approach, of a disturbance from the Tasman: Sea. Northerly winds have therefore freshened somewhat, and milder < cloudy conditions have set in over most of the country. Some light and scattered-rain has fallen on the west coast of the South Island and also in the far north.

Auckland's weather yesterday was cool and cloudy with a light southwesterly, wind. , It was overcast there this morning with a light wind from the north-north-east. Wellington's weather was fine and for the most part sunny, 8.8 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. A_ gentle easterly prevailed in the morning and a northerly in the afternoon. Christehurch had a fine and sunny day with a keen north-easterly wind.
