A year of marked nrogress in all branches of work was disclosed at-the annual meeting, of parishioners of ,St. Barnabas' Church, Roseneath, held on Tuesday night in the .ROseneath School. ;•-'■ '-^'V >;':''_vV '. The vicar, the: Rev; E.,:M. McLevie, in his report, commented,.on- the large increase in-the. number: ■• of communicants during the year. ;The,attendances at all the. services, were very encouraging, but« he ".said: he. would not feel satisfied: until the church was crowded every Sunday." ■ Spasmodic attendance at the, services of the church must be almost valueless to the community and the individual. Referring to the Sunday school, the vicar stated: "In place of the senior Sunday school,■-,,a1l the boys and girls, who. have ,passed into the standards at the primary school are invited to join in the morning service at church every Sunday at 10.30. Although the change has only been m progress for a few weeks, more children Ire attending than was previously the case at Sunday school. The primary department meets in the Roseneath School every Sunday morning." Regarding the proposed parish hall, the result''of last year's "Day of Giving" was £240, a splendid effort, and the fund now stands at £448. As a considerable sum is still required to buijd the hall, the parishioners unanimously decided that another "Day of Giving" should be held on the third Sunday in September. During the. past two years the furnishings of the church have been greatly enriched by the gifts of memorial pews and the purchase of a new sanctuary carpet in blue, with centre aisle, carpet to match. The following memorial and gift pews haxje been dedicated: —Carman Elysia Hough. Samuel Hoy, Emma Pearce,, Sarah Williams, SamuelShugg Williams, Valentine Elizabeth Ann and John Thomas Ellen, Thomas Wiltshire, Lucy Jane Hix and Thomas Wiltshire Hix, jun., Robert Joseph Crozier and Jane Isabella Taylor, Martin and Fanny Eggleton, Samuel Taylor, and Martha Annie Stockman. :■';.-•■■.'■'• • ■■

Smith,, "who. have spent many long hours in the work of (he parish, together with all members of the vestry, who have been a solid band of worshipping and faithful. Christian gentlemen."
