The April social ";of the Miramar branch of the Wellington Free Kindergarten was held' in the Airport- Tearooms recently," and--the'attendance was a record one." The'special attraction for the evening'was a competition for the most useful article created out of waste material, or material costing less,th.an..ls,,..,Mrs, ..Q,,.G.-Smith, presi-. den I. donated the. prizes. The result was very gratifying to the committee, as 'the articles exhibited became their property, and willbe included in their annual sale of work. The judges were "Mrs. Eichlebaum, of the Kindergarten Council, and Miss Stevenson. The prizes were awarded to Miss Kean, first, and Miss Godber, second. Many articles were very highly commended. :
