A WARNING NOTE

MORTGAGE RELIEF

NON-PAYMENT OF INTEREST

(By TelegTapli—Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, This Day.

"The Court will view unfavourably the action of any mortgagor who, pending determination of his application for an adjustment of his liability, has refused or neglected to pay whatever interest within the prescribed limits it was reasonably possible for him to provide," runs a statement contained in a circular letter from the Undersecretary of Justice (Mr. B. L. Dallard) to the law societies of the Dominion.

Complaint has been made that many mortgagors have taken advantage of the fact that they had made applications for relief by refraining from paying interest. . Mr. Dallard's statement makes it clear that this is not the intention of the legislation.
