Hira Mokai, a Maori, was this morning sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment for being illegallyoopnp premises by night. He left a dance at Poroporo on the night of March 21 and entered the house of Jacob Hawera. He entered a girl's bedroom. When the girl said she would call her brother, Mokai left but threatened to come back.

The Justice of the Peace considered Mokai a menace and the only thing was to put him away.
