SCHOOL SHED GUTTED
Smoke was noticed pouring out of a detached wo'od-and-eoal shed at the Petone Central School about 5.10 p.m. yesterday. The Petone Brigade was quickly upon the scene, but the combustible nature of the contents had enabled the fire to obtain a good hold. The shed was gutted.
To study the action of aviators' hearts at various altitudes, Russian .medicos have developed a stethoscope attached to a short-wave transmitter. The aviator'flies high. The doctor stays oh the ground; listening' to the heartbeat in comfort.
