According to reports, Toorak won the Cheviot Cup .under difficulties, as he got a ,bad run in the early part of the race, and had to' cover a lot of extra ground over the final three furlongs. He will have a host of supporters at Addington. Savoldt, .who finished- third over two miles at wanganui in-the excellent time of 4min 32sec, was responsible for the fast ; pace, and it. was not until tha home stretch was reached that he surrendered the lead. He battled on resolutely and was only a head behind Mountain Flight. Savoldi scored his only success at Westpbrt. By' Jack Potts, Savoldi displays stamina, and he may go well in the Eltham Handicap at Hawera on- Saturday.
