MONDAY'S MATCH

CANCELLATION OF PLAY

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, March 23,

Several references to the early cancellation of play on Monday in the M.C.C. match against the- CanterburyOtago team were made at the final meeting for the season of the management committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association. Just before the chairman, Mr. W. L. King, had completed his report on the season, he mentioned the possibility of an Australian team being invited to play in New Zealand next year.

"I hope that they will play when there are days available for them," said Mr. I. B. Cromb. "That cancellation of play on Monday morning was a very bad effort by those responsible."

Other members also mentioned the matter in passing, although the subject was not discussed at all, as it was made clear that the match was not within the jurisdiction of the Canterbury association.
