ABBOT RESIGNS
CAUSE OF MONKS' STRIKE

(Received March 17, 11.20 a.m.) CAIRO, March 16. The Patriarch has accepted the resignation of the Abbot Sidarous, a dispute with whom caused the strike of Coptic monks. In a letter to the Patriarch the abbot says: "A monk's life must be founded on peace and love. My brethren do not want me. They have many evil intentions which I am unable to combat." ■'
