LADIES' GUILD

BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY

An enjoyable time was spent in the rooms of the British Sailors' Society recently when a meeting of the Ladies' Guild Auxiliary was held. Mrs. Padman presided and Mrs. Long conductp.d the devotions.

The president exhibited a very fine picture of, the late King George V, which had been presented to the society. It had been his Majesty's wish [that these pictures be placed in various institutions throughout the Empire, and after his' Majesty's death those wishes had been carried out and a number sent to his Excellency. Viscount Galway for distribution. Mrs. Empson gave a delightful talk on her recent visit to Sydney. A vote of thanks to Mrs. Empson was carried |by acclamation.' , ' ' The president announced that an jevfining had been arranged for memr bers of the society and guild to.hear an account of Mr. C. D. Morpeth's travels abroad. Mr. Morpeth is president of the society and will also tell of ■his visit to the British Sailors' Society's headquarters in London. A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames Tanner and Befford, to whom cordial thanks were given.
