The Victoria Racing Club's Autumn Meeting concluded today at Flemington. The weather was threatening and the going holding. Beechwood made amends lor recent failures by a narrow win in the Leonard Stakes. Namakia was never da pamel Uus finished brilliantly to beat the pacemaker Gold Rod in the Lloyd Stakes. Pamelus now has. had two wins and four seconds in his last six starts. He is a probable visitor to Randwick at Easter. Young Idea was 3 moderate third. Gay Blonde was outclassed. . . . ... Bonnie Rollpx, having his first stait for Mr. R. J. Murphy, the owner of Cuddle, lost his rider at the third fence in the steeplechase, which was won comfortably by Seven Hills. Elegance, Bhoy, and Blackmill fell. _ The extreme outsider Mutable gained a surprise win in the Australian Cup, He has a consistent record this season, but the distance was considered beyond him. He finished brilliantly to down Pooley' Bridge, in the last few strides. Demotic just beat Hot Shot for place honours. Cuddle weakened, also Amalia and Royal Messenger. The winner's owner-trainer is W. famart, formerly a well-known jockey. The time was only half a second outside the record.
