SMOKING IN BUSES

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—Regarding the letter headed "Smoking in Buses" written by "1.5. J.," allow me to commend the Eastbourne Council for not allowing smoking in closed buses running between Wellington and Day's Bay. It seems there are some people who cannot go five minutes without a smoke, to say nothing of half an hour, which is about all the time the bus takes to that suburb. I heard of a man once who walked out of the church he attended at 12 o'clock regularly every Sunday, for, as he himself said, he could not stay a minute longer without a smoke. I suggest "1.5. J." leave the bus and.take to the boat where there is enough fresh air for all.—l am, etc.,

RESIDENT.
