CORONATION SHOW
MANY HORSE EVENTS
The Coronation Show, to be held at the John ' Street grounds. .from May. 1 to May 15, including, attractions on a more extensive scale than has been attempted by the Wellington Show Asr sociation previously, will, it is hoped; draw even, better .' attendances 'than when as formerly it.' was held at Easter, when a great7 many people/are in the habit of leaving the city. -The Coronation' observances in Wellington will no' doubt bring, a "number, of people in and the show should benefit —especially in view of the three days' programme of horse events, which, upon the promises of entries already given, should be far ahead of that of any previous year. The number of outside competitors is greatly increased. Formerly the dog trials and the horse events clashed to a certain extent. It has been decided this year to hold the sheep dog trials the Saturday previous to the horse events (Saturday, May 8). All sorts of outdoor attractions are being put on this year. Negotiations are also proceeding for the'placing of the water boats inside the building, The lay-out will be new. In place of a rock garden there will be a fernery, which will be made an outstanding example of New Zealand's wealth of forest ferns. Up to date 6000 ft of floor space has been taken for the - motor-car show, and about a third of the space for general exhibits has been taken. This has been accomplished ■ before the space plans have been" completed, which speaks well for the speedy acquisition of the remaining space. Stadium amusements are being planned on a more elaborate scale than hitherto, and will be staged each evening during the show.
