PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly meeting of. the Petone Borough Council was held last evening. There • were present the Mayor (Mr. A. Scholefield), and Councillors G. London, J. R. Gaynor, J. C. Burns, E. T. E. Hogg, J. Huggan Jas, Cumming, W. H. Edwards, D. M. Dickson, and A. Macfarlane. The Mayor was appointed the council's representative to a conference at Lower Hutt to consider a scheme for supplying milk to the schools in the A letter from the Wellington City and Suburban Water Supply Board, stating the terms on which loca^ bodies which had left the board would be readmitted to membership, was referred to the finance committee for consideration. • The Korokoro Progressive League is to be advised that the finance committee will receive a deputation from the league on the question of- utilising Korokoro land for Government housing. Councillor J. Huggan suggested that idle Crown lands in Korokoro might be used for housing. 1 The council increased its grant to the Wellington Free Ambulance from £40 to £100.

It was decided to set aside"£2s for decorating the municipal building during' the Coronation celebration. The purchase of a new motor truck at £312 was agreed to.
