DEARER TIN PLATES.
Owing to increasing activity amd a general firming of prices on the metfal market, the price of tin plate has been very seriously affected in recensfc weeks, and the increase in prices compared with those of a few months ago amounts to approximately 15 pusr cent. Recent cablegrams indicate a : further advance. The phenomenal demand for steel is largely affecting the position and increasing difficulties are being encountered in obtaining supplies of all materials for forward delivery. Already it has been indicated by some mills that they cannot give delivery according to schedule, and altogether the market is very firm, with higher prices indicated. Stocks in New Zealand are reported as light and supplies coming forward will be at much increased costs.
