ENGLISH COMMENT

"STILL SLENDER HOPE"

(Received March 1, 11.15 a.m.)

LONDON, February 28.

"England Faces Huge Total," and "Australia's Huge Score" were evening newspaper posters. The "Star" ran two, "Australia Goes On and On," and "Now We've Got Nine Out."

H. A. H. Carson, in the "Evening News," says: "Australia's bowling is not so deadly, so we should still have a slender'hope." He thinks England's bowling was not good enough on such a wicket. It was a case of waiting for the batsmen to err.

The "Evening News" cartoonist depicts a battered lion asking, "Death, where is thy sting?"
