TARANAKI MATCHES

WIN FOR WELLINGTON

The heavy rain which fell on Friday; and Saturday last prevented the commencement of the Wellington v. Taranaki matches set down for Miramar on Saturday afternoon. The Miramar hard courts were also very wet, and it was decided to play shortened matches between reduced teams of four men and.four women, instead of six men and six women, oh the hard courts of the Newtown and Seatoun Clubs. In some of the matches, the best of 17 games . (advantage) was played, and in others all but the third sets were short. In order to make the: best use of the short time available, the teams were rearranged. The men's singles and doubles were played at Seatoun, the women's singles and doubles: at Newtown, and the mixed doubles were-shared between the two clubs.'"'' '■'■■■"■; ,•■■■'.■"■'.. ■"'' ' •■
