Mrs. Louis Cohen received her guests, wearing a tabac brown- lace frock .and a smart little brown "cocktail hour" hat. Each' of the reception rooms of Dr. and Mrs. .Cohen's attractive home, which stands in a very pretty garden, was decorated with a profusion of dahlias shading from pink to. mauve.
There were also a number of small sherry parties given at 8 o'clock before the ball, among those who entertained visitors at their homes being •Dr. and Mrs. John Plimmer. Mrs. Plimmer was wearing a hyacinth blue satin-backed crepe gown, and her drawing-room was decorated with mauve gladioli and marigolds.
