PENALTY ON RATES

AFTER MARCH 15

City ratepayers have just two more weeks in which to meet their rate demands if they wish to avoid the 10 per cent, penalty imposed on late payers. The penalty will definitely be imposed after Monday, March 15. The amount of rates received corresponds roughly with that at the same date last year, but no worth while comparison can be made until nearer the penalty date, for each year "the experience has been that ratepayers are inclined to let payment stand aside until the last few days.
