"DISTRESS IN SPAIN"
(" the Editor.) S j r _The report published in Tuesday's' "Post" of the meeting held on Sunday in the Trades Hall, concerning distress in Spain stated: "It was agreed that the Spanish Government should be given all possible support in its fight against Fascism, and a collection was taken up at the meeting." This is incorrect. The motion, passed by a majority at _the meeting contained no such sweeping . promise, and the inference in the above report that the money collected was to help the Spanish Government in its political aims is entirely .wrong. The money was subscribed for the relief of human suffering in Spain, and a motion by the writer, intended to ensure that all donations be sent to the International Red Cross Society 'for the alleviation of distress in Spain irrespective of party, creed, or location, was refused a hearing by the chairman.—l am, etc., d. Mclaughlin.
