ST. DAVID'S DAY.

"Land of the Singing Sword," a militant yet poetic phrase, is the title given to a special broadcast from 2YA on Monday evening, March 1. from 9.15 p.m., in commemoration of St. David's Day, the natal day of the legendary patron saint of Wales. In addition to selected Welsh melodies by soloists and choir, introduced with appropriate narrative, listeners are to hear a special recording of a speech delivered by the Rt. Hon. D. Lloyd George. From the point of view of historic value, this recording alone should prove of more than passing interest to listeners other than those who claim a tie, personal or otherwise, with the principality of Wales. Earlier in the evening, at 8.30, a programme of appropriate music will be heard from 3YA, with a talk at 8.37 on St. David's Day, by Mr. J. G. Parry. The local celebration of St. David's Day will commence tomorrow, when members of the Welsh Society will attend divine service at the Cambridge Terrace Congregational Church. This will be followed on Monday evening with the annual banquet, which will be held at 7.45 p.m. at the National Club (late Reform Club), Featherston Street.
