PARAPARAUMU BRANCH. The February meeting of the Paraparaurnu Women's Institute was presided over by Mrs. Delahuntyr Nominations were received for the new committee, also four new members were nominated. Miss Maddever, the guest for the afternoon, gave an interesting demonstration on "Gesso" work. Mrs. Fitchett won the competition for the best piece 'of .smocking. /Mrs. Neild was first and Mrs. Burgess was second for the best savoury sandwiches. The hostesses were Mesdames Sheargold and Pascpe, and Miss Pasmore. The competition for March is to be the best poem on the institute (not less than twelve lines). TRENTHAM BRANCH. The first meeting of the year 'of the Trentham Women's. Institute was held last week when Mrs. E. Carr presided over a good attendance of members.
