ADDIS ABABA BOMBING

600 NATIVES BELIEVED KILLED

THEORY OF REVOLT

(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ROME, February 23. It is believed that Italians killed 600 Abyssinians following the bomb-throw-ing incident at Addis Ababa on February 20, including 300 executed as a reprisal for the demonstrations. Two hundred were killed when Fascists cleaned up Addis Ababa. About 100 were slaughtered when, in the confusion after the bombing, the Italians fired into the crowd. Corrado Zoli, former Governor of Eritrea, expressed the opinion that Beine Merid and Gabre Marian joined forces to march on Addis Ababa with the support of Ras Desta but were defeated by Italian columns, Ras Desta escaping wounded, and the captors bringing back Beine Merid to the battlefield and shooting him after he had identified Gabre Mariana's body. The bomb-throwers were emissaries of Ras Desta, who struck prematurely,' believ: ing Ras Desta's arrival was imminent, whereas he was still two days from the capital. They hurled 10 grenades before they fell.

The condition of the Viceroy, Marshal Graziani, who was seriously wounded in one-hand, may be worse than has been disclosed.
