WRESTLING AT KILBIRNIE
The first gymnasium entertainment of the Kilbirnie Wrestling Club -for 1937 was held last night, and, despite the wet weather, there was a very large attendance, which enjoyed excellent entertainment. A varied number of vaudeville items were followed by wrestling bouts. Some of the latter were under amateur rules and some had professional holds allowed. The results were:—A. Tomlinson (Kilbirnie), 7st 121b. beat Parks ■ (Kilbirnie), 7st 131b; T. Yule (Kilbirnie). 6st 81b, drew with L. Mahoney ' (Johnsonville), 6st 71b; R. Carr (Kilbirnie), sst, beat M. Churchwell (Kilbirnie), sst 31b;, C. Teague (Kilbirnie). 9st 101b. beat T. Murrell (Island Bay), 9st 91b; L. Hancock (Kilbirnie), 10sf 41b, beat W. Cook (Petone), lOst 81b; J. Prestney (Kilbirnie). 6st 71b, beat Kohn (Island Bay), 6st 21b. A blindfold bout between C. A.*ew and Len Boe was a very lively affair, keeping the crowd in good humour. _^
