Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary Meeting,

The first meeting for 1937 of the I Wellington Hospital Ladies' Auxiliary was held at the Public Hospital recently. Mrs. J. C. Webb was in the chair. Mrs. O'Leary, librarian, reported having purchased twenty-seven new books for the library. A great many more new books are required. Miss Gordon, hospital almoner, stated that for the coming winter she would again need supplies of warm bed clothing, underclothing, babies' clothes, and many tins of Ovaltine, cocoa, etc.. She also asked that ladies with cars should sometimes take convalescent patients for outings. Any offers for this service will be gratefully received either by Miss Gordon at the hospital or by the secretary of the W.H.L.A. (telephone 50-039). Brooklyn Garden Party. A garden party for the Brooklyn Plunket Committee, will be held in Miss Crabtree's garden, 145 Ohiro Road, on Saturday afternoon. The Hon. R.. A. Wright, M.P., will open the function at 2.30 p.m. :In the event of wet weather the party will be held in the Brooklyn Methodist HalL Reunion Service Postponed. The church parade at St. Paul's ProCathedral in connection with the reunion of the Wellington College Old Girls' Association has been unavoidably postponed from Sunday, February 28, to Sunday, March 7, owing to the death of Mr. Robert Parker whose memorial service will be held on February 28. "Pantry Evening.* A "pantry evening" was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. McDowell, Khandallah, recently, in honour of Miss Elsie Sanders and ' Mr. Keith Falconer, who are to be married shortly. Fifty guests were entertained with games and competitions. Musical monologues given by Messrs. Lan and Jim Galloway were much enjoyed. A variety of gifts, for the pantry- were given by ■ the guests, each gift being accompanied by an original verse. Miss Sanders and Mr. Falconer expressed warm appreciation of the kindness of friends. Supper was served, and the Rev. D. Scott thanked Mr. and Mrs. McDowell for their hospitality in their beautiful home, and for the very successful evening. Lower Hutt Centenarian. Last Saturday at Lower Hutt there was an unusual little family celebration when Mrs. Margaret Littlejohn, of "Carlogie," celebrated her hundrdeth birthday. Relatives assembled in honour of the occasion, and Mrs. Littlejohn was presented with a cake mounted by a hundred candles. Mrs. Littlejohn, whose husband predeceased her many years ago, came to New Zealand in 1881 by the ship Piako. She was born in a township just out of Aberdeen. There was a family of eight, but now only three of these are livingMessrs. J. G. Littlejohn (Nelson), H. W. Littlejohn (Wellington), and Mrs. John Low (Hawaii).
