The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) is to leave Wellington- tomorrow afternoon for Blenheim and Kaikoura. He is to return to Wellington on Sunday.
The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) is expected to return to Wellington tomorrow from the south.
Mr. A. C. A. Sexton, M.P. for Franklin, is visiting Wellington. ~ .
The Hon.-H. G. Hawkins, M.L.C., of Adelaide, who has been touring •■• the South Island, returned to Wellington this morning. He will leave again on. Friday for a tour of the North Island.
The honour conferred upon Sir George Troup, X.8., by the King was referred . to, by the chairman of tha Wellington Harbour Board (Mr. D. J. McGowan) at the meeting of the board last night. Sir George had served.on the board for two years, he said, and it was also .known to the board howhe had served the city in an exemplary-, way. He expressed the congratulations of the board.

Palmerston North for the past .two. years, has been appointed to the aero« dromes branch of the Public Works Department at Wellington,. and takes up his new duties on March 1. Mr. J. A. Milburn, who has been; postmaster at Government Buildings! since 1926, and who is to; take up the* position of postmaster at Wellington East, was farewelled this week and-pre-sented with a tokenof esteem from -thai staffs of the State Departments in'the* building.'
